DeleteI would like to take the comment down, but, to be honest, I have no idea how to do it. There is no 'remove' option. Perhaps it's no comfort at all, but amidst all the staff concerning Richard and flooding Sharon's blog these days it may go unnoticed?
Why was it not well received? I don't understand! IMHO, it's great, and you know I'm a Ricardian :-)
I just don't understand how anyone can be so partial and not 'let in' other opinions?

Hi Kasia, no problem: when the post appears on the wall of the group, just click on the 'x' to the top right, and that will remove it.
DeleteThere are a lot of Ricardians on that group who don't take kindly to criticism of Richard, particularly if it is tinged with sarcasm, as my article was. I'm not Mr Popular on there as it is, so I might find an angry mob coming after me! :)
So I'm the innocent here, not spotting the signs of 'not Mr Popoular''s sarcasm in the text :-) The problem with me is that I do write in English, but think in my native Polish, which sometimes is the barrier hard to overcome. Silly me :-)

ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't joined FB. I don't know whether it's really worth it and whether I can afford it. I'm a busy thirty-two-year-old, with two young children, husband musician (meaning always-on-the-road), time-consuming job and plans for my own novel (in Polish). I'm just not sure whether it's the right moment :-) But I'm still thinking about it, I admit.

ReplyDeleteAs for FB, you're right. I'm perfectly aware that it would help the Young King, I'm just a little bit worried when it comes to my texts for the blog. Remember that English is not my first language and it takes me probably more time than you- I mean the native speakers- to create a post. Taking active part in the discussions on FB would put my texts in serious danger- I'm very sociable by nature, the trait of character not necessarily useful when you want to focus on your writing and remain a good mother at the same time :-)
I just visited your website. I think it still needs a little improvement. Although you already have a great advantage of linking your new website with your blogs, the website could use user-friendly navigation and distinct graphics for each section. Also, make sure your contact information is easy to find. There may be times your viewers might get confused on what they would be clicking.

DeleteDavid, I recently read Reiver and enjoyed it very much. I’m now well into Longsword and find it equally enjoyable. Both books bring back a lot of memories when I was stationed in East Anglia. All the locations and towns in both books, particularly in Longsword around the Isle of Ely near where my wife and I lived, are very familiar. Over the years we’ve gone back to the fens many times to visit our former neighbors.
ReplyDeleteI read your profile and find we have much in common concerning a love of history including the Roman period. I doubt there is a castle, abbey, or cathedral in the UK (especially Wales) I haven’t visited – some multiple times. All my books whether mysteries or straight historical fiction all have settings and plots with a period theme or flavor.
I’m currently finishing up Enemy of Rome, the last volume of the ARRIUS Trilogy that focuses on Hadrian’s Wall and scheduled for publication in Jan 2019. If you have the time and inclination, would you be interested in writing a brief review (blurb)? While I have other American writers who have provided reviews in the past, I believe an English author is a plus. I’ve been pleased Griff Hosker has generously contributed to all three volumes. Should you agree, I’ll send a file of the manuscript now in final draft. I am open anytime to returning the favor.
